History of the Inn
In 1935 my grandfather bought the inn which already existed many years before.
He was a butcher and cattle-dealer and and continued the inn with new drive.
He extended the butcher's shop and started to extend the company with cattle trade.
Surely the time between the wars was hard, but with hard work, a capable wife and a good staff the company consistently was extended.
The inn became famous far and wide and was opened full-time.
During World War II my grandfather was assigned to be supplier of Markersdorf military airport. A further sign of the good quality he provided.
The family grew besiides the lot of work and 3 children was born.
The northern wing was extended in 1949, the village needed a big hall for the miscellaneous events.
My father Josef Polly further extended the company and in 1958 married the daughter of Bamberger Mühle (mill) in Behamberg.
Together they continued hard working and the south wing was rebuilt, 10 guest rooms was built in the 2nd floor.
In the 1st floor the butcher's shop, the smoke and sausage kitchen and a cold storage room was refurnished. The inn with the butcher's shop became a good livelihood and therefore the agriculture was extended and also young pigs was breeded provide the clients with good meat.
Then in 1959 the autobahn was finished and suddenly there was much less traffic at the main road. But nevertheless the company was continued prosperously by my parents. Events, balls, weddings and the legendary Heringschmaus (a feast eating pickled herrings in Ash Wednesday) brought the earnings to be able to persist consistently.
In 1962 my brother Josef was born and in 1962 I was born.
Quickly a was put on an apron and I became follower of 3rd generation.
My father died much too early in 1972 with 51 years, 2 years later my grandfather too and in 1976 my grandmother.
Rapidly the family enterprise turned to a lone fight of only my mother against the requirements to preserve the enterprise. But with full exertion she succeeded in continuing the buseness prosperously, with the assistance of a good staff too. Wih a good food and loyal guests it was refurbished and expanded continousliy. A hunters room was integrated in the upper floor in 1974. The celebrations was held in the hall or in the new hunters room depending on the size.
The butcher's shop was reduced because of the new market conditions and the main focus changed to guest service and lodging.
After visiting Volks- and Hauptschule (primary and secondary school) I visited the tourism school in St. Pölten and took over guest business in 1985.
Then we have closed the butcher's shop for besser being able taking care of guest business. In the course of time a modification was necessary and the court entrance was covered with buildings. In 1990 the place arose for a new emperors room with an arch, the toilets and a new staircase.
With much effort of my mother and me we continued investing and rebuilt the 10 guest rooms in the upper floor in 1995 to 5 comfort rooms. After finishing these rooms further 5 comfort rooms was built in the former rooms of the butcher's shop at ground floor.
In 2003 I married my wife Michaela who was running a hairdresser's shop in the village. After the birth of my son Bernhard we built together a new hairdresser's shop in the northern wing. My wife hat a good idea and so the unused room in the first floor became a dog parlor. Our daughtter Katharina was born in 2003 and the 3 consolidated companies are working prosperously.
In 2009 the arched storage rooms became further 4 comfort rooms which are easy accessible from the court and lovely.
Our company has 15 rooms with a good occupancy which we are always keeping ready for our guests.
So we are trying from the beginning in 1935 over and over again and on new ways to persist and to enthuse our guests.
